Για όλα τα άλλα, γράψε μας στο synopsis.support1@gmail.com.

2. What data we process
2.1 Account
To sign up we need your email address and a password. Firebase Authentication stores the password only in hashed form; we cannot read it. It also stores when you signed up (we count your 14 free days from then), whether your email address is confirmed, and when you last signed in. To prevent abuse, Firebase Authentication logs IP addresses and technical details of your device (user agent) for a few weeks. Your email address is never published; we use it to confirm your account, to reset your password and to reply to you when needed.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract); for the logs, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a secure service).
2.2 Profile
Name, role (student or professor) and university. When you sign up, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and accept the community rules; we do not ask for a date of birth. Your name, role and university appear with your articles, projects and comments and are visible to other users.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
2.3 Articles, projects, photos and comments
We store what you write and upload in order to review and publish it. Articles and projects (with up to six photos) are published only after the publisher approves them; then everyone with access can read them. The title, summary and cover photo of published articles and projects are visible to everyone as a preview. Comments under articles and projects are visible to everyone with access. Photos are made smaller on your phone, which also removes hidden details such as where they were taken (EXIF).
For universities’ needs and offers you also give your role at the university, which is published with the post, and an email address of yours at the university. That address is not published: only you and the publisher see it, and the publisher writes to it to confirm, before publishing, that you speak for the university. This correspondence is kept in our mailbox (see 2.12). The address is deleted when you delete the post under “My projects” or delete your account.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; for checking posts made on behalf of universities, also Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in publishing nothing in a university’s name without its consent).
2.4 Private messages
Messages to the writer of an article or the sender of a project can only be read by the two of you. We do not read them. Only if one of you reports a message does the publisher see the text of that one message (see 2.6). If either of you deletes their account, the whole conversation is deleted.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
2.5 “I’m interested”
If you tap “I’m interested” on an article or project, its writer or sender sees your name, role and university. You can withdraw it at any time; it is then deleted.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
2.6 Reports, blocking and moderation
When you report an article, project, comment or message, we store what was reported (for comments and messages, the text as it was when reported), who wrote it, the reason, your note and your account ID. The publisher reviews every report. Accounts that break the community rules can be blocked; a blocked account can no longer publish, comment or send messages. If you block someone, we store this in your account. Before a comment or message is sent, the app checks on your phone whether it contains strong insults and, if so, does not send it; nothing is sent to us for this check. Blocks are always decided by a person.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a safe community) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR together with the Digital Services Act (DSA).
2.7 Notifications
If you allow notifications in the app, we store your device’s push token (on Android from Firebase Cloud Messaging, on the iPhone from Apple’s notification service, the Apple Push Notification service), the platform and the app language, and, for your account, what you want to be notified about. On Android the notifications arrive through Google, on the iPhone through Apple. Notifications about private messages show the sender’s name and the beginning of the text; you can turn this off. When you sign out, we delete your device’s token.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent, given through the permission on your phone). You can withdraw it at any time in your phone’s or the app’s settings.
2.8 Subscription and payment
After the 14 free days you need a subscription for full access. Payment is made through Google Play on Android and through the App Store on the iPhone. We never receive your payment details (for example your card); Google’s or Apple’s privacy policy applies to them. RevenueCat manages the subscription status for us (see 3). For this, RevenueCat receives a random ID of your account (not your name or email address), the purchase details from Google Play or the App Store (product, purchase and expiry dates, price, currency, country) and the technical details needed for the connection (for example the version of the app and of the operating system, language, IP address). In our database we keep until when your free days and your subscription run, whether it renews, which store it comes from, whether it is a test purchase and when we last checked it.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
2.9 What stays only on your device
Your sign-in, the app’s settings (languages, opening picture), saved articles, writers you hid, and your game scores and streaks are kept only on your device. We do not receive them.
In the browser version (synopsis-72b1c.web.app/app) the same details are stored in your browser, only as far as the app needs them to work. We use no cookies for advertising or analytics. You remove these details by signing out or by clearing your browser’s data for this website.
Legal basis for storing on your device: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (strictly necessary for the service you request).
2.10 Technical logs
Our server functions write technical logs, for example when an error occurs, with the random ID of your account. They are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
2.11 This website
When you open these pages or Σύνοψις in the browser, Firebase Hosting processes your IP address and technical details (browser, time) to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse; Google keeps these details for a few months. The website uses no cookies and no tracking.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
2.12 Contact by email
If you write to us, we use your email address and your message to reply. The emails are kept in our mailbox at Google (Gmail).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.
3. Recipients
Google (Firebase): Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, whose parent company is Google LLC, USA. We use Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Cloud Firestore (database), Cloud Storage (photos), Cloud Functions (server functions), Cloud Messaging (notifications) and Hosting (this website). The database, the photos and the server functions are in Frankfurt am Main (region europe-west3). According to Google, Firebase Authentication runs only in data centres in the USA. Google processes the data on our behalf as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR).
RevenueCat, Inc., USA: manages the subscription status on our behalf as a processor (see 2.8).
Google Play (Google Ireland Limited): handles the payment on Android under its own responsibility.
Apple (Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland): handles the payment on the iPhone through the App Store under its own responsibility, and delivers the notifications to the iPhone through Apple’s notification service (Apple Push Notification service).
Other users see what you publish (see 2.2 to 2.5).
We do not sell data or pass it on for advertising. We only give data to authorities when the law requires us to.
4. Transfers to the USA
Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which there is an adequacy decision of the European Commission (Art. 45 GDPR). With RevenueCat we have agreed the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Apple may also process data in the USA, for payments in the App Store and to deliver notifications to the iPhone; the safeguards Apple describes in its privacy policy apply.
5. How long we keep data
For as long as your account exists.
When you delete your account in the app, we delete at once: your account, profile, all articles and projects (including those waiting for approval), photos, comments (yours and those under your articles and projects), conversations, “I’m interested”, blocks, notification settings, device details, your subscription status in our database and your record at RevenueCat. Deleted data disappears from Google’s backups within 180 days at the latest.
We keep reports and block notes until they are handled and afterwards as long as needed to document the decision, as a rule for one year at most.
Technical logs: 30 days. IP logs of Firebase Authentication: a few weeks; of Firebase Hosting: a few months.
Anything the law requires us to keep (for example tax records) is kept for the period the law sets.
6. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) (Art. 21). You can withdraw a consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Much of this you can do yourself in the app: edit your profile, delete articles and projects, turn off notifications, delete your account. For anything else, write to synopsis.support1@gmail.com.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example in the country where you live, or with the authority responsible for us: Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
7. Required details
Without an email address, password, name, role and university you cannot create an account or publish anything. You can see the previews without an account.
8. Minimum age
The app is only for people aged 18 and over.
9. No automated decisions
We make no decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal effects on you (Art. 22 GDPR), and we do not build user profiles.
10. Security
Connections between the app, the website and the servers are encrypted (TLS). Google stores the data encrypted. Strict access rules decide who may read and change which data.
11. Changes
When the app changes, we update this policy. The current version on this page applies. This policy exists in Greek, English and German; if they differ, the German text prevails.
Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO.
Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO.
2.5 „Interessiert mich“
Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO.
Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO.
Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO.
Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO.
Andere Nutzer sehen, was du veröffentlichst (siehe 2.2 bis 2.5).
5. Wie lange wir Daten speichern
Solange dein Konto besteht.
